COVID Info

This has been such a unique time, and we are sure that it has produced both memorable and stressful moments for your family and students. God has consistently proven Himself to be both sovereign and good! We are so thankful for the provision He continues to faithfully supply in the life of our school, and in the lives of each family represented in our school. I know there has been a major question on many of your minds for some time now—will there be school? After much prayer, deliberation, and attention to the fast changing inputs from our state and local governments, we are excited to announce that we are prepared to move forward with in-person school with only a short one-week delay in our original start dates.

We are implementing multiple protocols in response to the guidance provided by the KSDE “NAVIGATING CHANGE: Kansas’ Guide To Learning And School Operations” as well as the guidelines mandated by Governor Kelly’s Executive Order 20-59. Those protocols are described in detail in the KANSAS CITY CHRISTIAN SCHOOL RE-ENTRY PLAN. This document is considered a living document as we continue to revise the protocols and plan. However, we believe the current draft is sufficiently final to provide you with an accurate picture of the protections and protocols we expect to implement.

Due to the training required to implement the new safety protocols, the need to train our faculty in our improved At Home Learning option, as well as the normal training and preparation that precedes a school year, we need a little additional time to fully prepare our staff and faculty after they return from summer break. The one-week delay of our start dates provides the necessary time for this additional training. We are committed to ensuring that we are as prepared as possible to re-open as safely as possible. Our focus on the first few days of school will be to train our students in the new protocols. Student training will be most effective if we phase the re-opening by age groups. Accordingly, the schedule for the first week of school will be as follows:

Tuesday, August 18: Kindergarten Only

  • [Kindergarten] 8:10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

Wednesday, August 19: K-6th grade

  • [K-6th] 8:10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

Thursday, August 20: ALL Students K-12th

  • [K-6th] 8:10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
  • [7th-12th]: 8:10 a.m. – 11:25 a.m.

Friday, August 21st: Full Day K-12th (plus Enrichment and Aftercare)

  • [Kindergarten] 8:10 a.m. – 11:50 a.m.
  • [Kindergarten Enrichment] 12:00 p.m. – 3:10 p.m.
  • [1st-6th] 8:10 a.m.– 3:10 p.m.
  • [7th-12th] 8:10 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

We look forward to learning together with you safely this fall.

Keeping our eyes on Jesus,

Mr. Todd Zylstra
Head of School
